Our full-time staff works year-round to guarantee the enduring excellence of our program. Our administrators bring many years of experience to the organization and take great pride in the unique characteristics of our internship program for high school students.
PROGRAM DIRECTORS
Margot Jackler is the primary liaison, working with both parents and interns. She lives with the interns in the dormitory and supervises all program staff. She has more than 30 years experience in education with a variety of age groups. She is actively involved in her community of Morristown, New Jersey, where she serves as a volunteer for the American Field Service and the Pingry School. When not devoting energy to CE, Margot enjoys genealogy, scrapbooking, photography, traveling, gardening and spending time with her husband and four children.
Margot holds an M. Ed. in Learning Disabilities from Lesley College in Massachusetts, and a B.A. in Elementary Education from Boston College.
Aviva Flowerman Vikstrom is primarily responsible for securing internships and matching students with work assignments that fit their interests as the Director of our New York City program. She has extensive experience developing and managing young adult education programs for George Washington University and Recreation Equipment Inc. (REI), as well as various community agencies in Seattle, Washington, where she currently resides with her husband. Aviva previously worked with summer programs for high school and college students as a leader and counselor and has held multiple internships herself in a variety of fields.
Aviva is also trained as a Natural Foods Chef and Nutrition Educator and teaches youth and families about the benefits of healthy eating and active living through hands-on education. In her spare time, you will find Aviva coaching youth gymnastics, experimenting with new recipes in her kitchen, or working in her vegetable garden. Aviva also enjoys traveling, photography, and yoga.
Aviva holds a B.A. summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in Anthropology from George Washington University
After two summers as a group advisor for Career Explorations, Todd Aronson joined our staff as the Director of our Boston program. A native of Needham, Massachusetts, Todd is primarily responsible for securing internships and matching students with work assignments that fit their interests in the greater Boston area. He is a 2002 graduate of Ithaca College, with a B.S. in Science and a Psychology minor, with a concentration in sports psychology. Todd is currently pursuing his masters in Sports Psychology from Boston University. He has extensive experience working with young people in various summer programs around the United States, and has honed his people skills and management techniques while working in restaurant management since graduating from college. An outdoors enthusiast, Todd has been a snowboard instructor in both the eastern and western United States. He counts drawing, painting, sculpting, travel, and the game of baseball among his passions and hobbies.
SUMMER RESIDENT ASSISTANTS
CE’s summer staff is comprised of qualified and caring graduate students and college graduates with extensive experience working with adolescents. Staff members are carefully pre-screened and trained by the Directors to ensure they are equipped to serve as supervisors and mentors throughout the summer.
FOUNDER & PRESIDENT
During the summer of 2002, 16 year old Seth Flowerman interned with Cantor Fitzgerald, a leading financial services provider in London. Over dinner one night, Seth's career mentor, Ken Rideout, suggested that he write a business plan to bring the internship experience to the United States. Eight months later, Seth’s business plan won first place in the “Young Entrepreneur’s Challenge” sponsored by St. Michael’s College in Winooski, Vermont. In July 2003, Seth Incorporated, and Career Explorations, LLC was born.
In September 2004, following CE’s successful inaugural season, Seth was the recipient of the 2004 Junior Achievement Student Entrepreneur of the Year award, sponsored by YEO, WEO, and NASDAQ Educational Foundation. Seth has won several other awards for entrepreneurship and has been featured in BusinessWeek and Forbes. Seth holds a B.Sc from Cornell University in Applied Economics and Management and is currently pursuing his MBA at the S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.
