Engineering

Engineering applies the values of mathematics and science to create solutions to technical problems. Engineers design and develop new products, systems, and processes by integrating factors such as design, function, effectiveness and safety. Engineers are responsible for many of the day-to-day products that surround us such as computers, chemicals, cars and toys.

The main branches of engineering include aerospace, civil, mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering, in addition to several sub-disciplines and interdisciplinary fields.

Engineers enjoy better than average job security and wages due to an insufficient supply of talented engineers in the labor market relative to the demand for their highly-developed technical skills. However, the industry, especially at the entry-level, lends itself to specialization. The best job prospects for college grads require specific experience and technical knowledge.

We have partners in most engineering fields including specializations such as biomedical engineering and environmental engineering. To be eligible for an engineering internship, you will need to have completed at least four courses towards a Bachelor of Engineering degree. you may oversee and learn how engineers use computers extensively to produce and analyze designs; to simulate and analyze how a machine, structure, or system operates; to produce specifications for parts; and to monitor product excellence and manage procedure efficiency.

Past CE engineering interns have:

  • Attended on-site structural engineering projects seeing the process in action.
  • Sat in on meetings between engineers, architects, and lawyers to understand what how all the pieces fit together in bringing a design to life.
  • Learned and utilized computer programs such as Auto-CAD to design .
  • Hands on with computer engineering projects from start to finish.
  • And much, much more…

Testimonials

I loved going out and learning about Boston and the engineering world through experiencing it first hand
- Rachel
My mentor was the president of an engineering firm and she allowed me to shadow her throughout the days. I felt as though I was the president of the company and loved trying on those shoes, learning what it’s like to run my own engineering firm
- Jessica
I was treated like a team member of a computer engineering company. They allowed me to work on all of their projects, using my knowledge of C++, HTML, and Java. Initially, I didn’t know that much about program. Now I feel like I could continue working at the company full-time and really helping out
