Journalism / Publishing
Journalism influences the world around us by passing on news and current events through newspaper, TV, radio, magazines, the internet and other forms of new media. Professions in the field include reporters, editors, photographers, TV and radio broadcast announcers, among others. Depending on interest, a journalist can specialize in fields such as politics, sports, science or investigative topics. Journalists can be found writing about high school sports for a local newspaper or covering the white house and preparing questions for a Presidential press conference. Working on photos, articles, artwork and advertisements, publishers use the help of desktop publishing software to lay out publications such as magazines, novels and various content page by page.
A CE journalism or publishing intern may investigate information for an upcoming publication, work on sites at a live broadcast, work for a publishing house, or fact check vital information prior to an article's release.
Past CE interns have:
- Assisted in creating and editing magazines, newsletters and other exciting publications.
- Conducted interviews for stories and articles
- Learned how to professionally apply layouts in publications
- Gained exposure to high pressure deadlines
- And much, much more...
Testimonials

My passions are the environment and media. CE placed me in an internship
involving both my interests where I got to work in a television studio
learning about production, but they also allowed my to interview people
on environmental topics. We eventually made an amazing documentary on
environmental policy and I got to experience the entire process

“I told CE that I was interested in journalism, politics, and film
production and they worked hard to learn what facets of each career I
was passionate in at a more specific level. By speaking with the
director I was able to learn more about myself and what careers were a
good fit. They then placed me in an internship that was a perfect
match! I got to interview people on heated political matters and learn
how to document it on film with real professionals. It was amazing!!

My internship mentor trusted me with the company Newsletter. It was so
cool to feel like an adult working professionally in a journalism
setting and having adults appreciate my work
