Washington D.C. Program Events, Seminars, & Networking

The D.C. Internship Program events are one of the most popular features of our program. The events are planned to give you full exposure to your new city, while combining travel, with many of the most popular attractions in the city. Although your summer will be filled with gaining valuable work experience, it is very important that you gain the full experience of living in Washington D.C., and our events will do just that. The following are just a few examples of activities from past programs, and the full roster of summer 2010 activities will be announced later in the year.

Tour of Washington D.C.

Welcome to our nation’s capital! For your first weekend with us, we would like to get you acquainted with your new “home!” During this event, we will be riding in style to learn all about the history of the political center of the world, why the call it the “mall” and what exactly is inside each of the monuments that grace all books about DC. You will get a glimpse of the White House, Smithsonian, the Lincoln Memorial, the Capitol Building, and the Washington Monument just to name a few. You can make any notes on sights that you may want to go back and visit in further depth. You will not want to miss out on learning all about your new home for the next two months! You’ll get a chance to dine at a restaurant in the heart of DC with the rest of the group as you plan for your eight weeks ahead.

Improv Show and Dinner

As the nation's #1 venue for comedy shows, we'll have a night full of laughter and good food. Featuring the best comedians from across the country, from Ellen DeGeneres to Dave Chappelle, this will definitely be a night to remember. The night will be filled with laughter and great food as we dine at the comedy club before the show and enjoy the new and up coming comics that get discovered at the DC Improv. Keep a look out for the headliner as we get closer to the start of the program!

New York City Overnight

Rest up and get ready to visit the city that doesn't sleep. For our overnight we'll be packing our bags and going to see the Big Apple and what all the excitement is all about. We'll be heading to NYC bright and early and taking a tour of the city on board a double deck bus to really take in the sights. Learn some history on of the country's most visited cities, experience Ground Zero, the Empire State Building, Central Park, Rockefeller Plaza and much more before lunch and before checking into the hotel to get ready for an amazing night out on the town. From amazing restaurants that stay open all night to one of kind bars and clubs, your biggest problem will be packing it all into one night.

National's Baseball Game

Go Nats! Come join us as we celebrate one of America's favorite past times. We hope that you are just excited as we are to experience the brand new Nats Stadium! Join us at a Washington National's game in the city and you will truly understand why baseball has such a passionate following and has truly become a staple of American culture! Get your Red on and get ready for Nats Town!

Going Away Dinner

The hardest part is saying goodbye. After what will be one of the best summers of your life, University of Dreams will be hosting a very special party just for you. This will definitely be a send off to remember. You will spend the night enjoying the beautiful sights of the Washington Monument lit up against the Potomac River. For our last event as a group we'll be sharing our favorite memories of the summer on board one of DC's incredible dinner cruises. The group will enjoy its own private dinner where everyone can reminisce about the summer, toast to the good times and say their goodbyes.

Unsponsored Events

To help you build your friendships and get more comfortable with the city, the staff will continuously be planning unsponsored activities for the entire group to take advantage of. These activities are optional, but they will make sure to get you acquainted with your new city, as well as keep your social calendar full.
