Discovery Internships Special Placement Service (SPS)

The Discovery Internships College Program is focused on providing an 8-week all-inclusive internship solution to college students from around the globe. However, in response to requests to provide internship opportunities outside of our traditional program calendar, the College Program has developed a Special Placement Service (SPS) division.

The SPS Program provides opportunities for students and recent graduates looking for an internship ranging from a one week Job Shadow to a 9-month Gap Year Program. Over our past seven years of service, we have generated an extensive network of professional opportunities across a wide variety of industries. Whether you're looking for a shorter internship, a longer internship, or just an internship during a different time of year, the DI SPS Program may be your solution!

All of our SPS Programs include*:

• Guaranteed Internship Placement – DI will work with you to structure an internship that follows your career interests. You can select a city of your interest  (NYC, Boston, Chicago, or SF), or “Best Internship” (we will recruit across all four cities to find the right opportunity for your career goals!)
  The Importance of an Internship
• A Personal Recruiter – Discovery Internships is your personal recruiter - we will not only utilize firms in our extensive professional network, but will actually approach new employers to find the right internship for you! Our SPS clients work with our most senior recruiters in each city. Our application process includes an in-depth phone interview to ensure we have a clear picture of your interests and professional goals.
• Internship Advisor – Each admitted student will be matched with an Internship Advisor. For many of our SPS clients, this is the Program Director for their city. She/he will act as a liaison between you and your employer, ensuring that you have a meaningful, positive work experience. Many of our students conclude their internship experience with a letter of recommendation from their mentor at work; your Internship Advisor will help facilitate this process.
• Orientation – Upon arrival in your host city, you will have a meeting with your Internship Advisor. They will provide you with useful information to help you get acquainted with your city and with Discovery Internships. Your Internship Advisor will check in on your progress at regular intervals and is always available to you for questions and support.

Housing may be available for your SPS program, or we can provide you with resources to help with your housing search.
