We use the application process to understand your career interests so that we can place you in an internship that aligns with your goals. Check out some of our most popular industries below. Business
The world of business affects every part of our society. A business, or firm, is a legal entity that provides products or services for profit. Firms sell their products to consumers, govern
ments, and other businesses. Most small and medium sized firms are part of a specific industry, such as telecommunications, textiles, or pharmaceuticals whereas many larger firms have business units in multiple industries and may own multiple brands and companies. The world's biggest businesses are, by financial measures, larger than some of the world's countries. Careers in business are as exciting as the possibilities are diverse. However, careers in business are not limited to large corporations. Small businesses and other "closely held" organizations employ more people than large public corporations. Over 50 million people in the United States work for companies with less than 500 people.
As a Discovery business Intern, you will gain exposure to the collective processes involved in running a business. Those interning in the field of business acquire knowledge of accounting, management, finance, production, marketing, distribution, purchasing, and/or sales. A business internship is a great choice if you are looking for broad experience applicable to any industry. We will work with you to find the best internship for your interests and aptitudes.
Past business Discovery Interns have:
- Explored the broad field of business through hands-on experience in one of many industries.
- Learned about international trade, accounting, finance and investing, real estate appraisal and brokerages, e-commerce, product development, or one of many other possibilities.
- Interned with companies of a range of sizes, from 3-person "start ups" to large multinational conglomerates.
Testimonials
My boss at the investment firm
trusted me enough to let me work on confidential projects. He gave me
really helpful tips for my future. I learned that the industry involves
creativity, strategy, and that business can be really interesting.
- Rebecca
My internship taught me the
importance of customer relations. I learned this by sitting in on
meetings and by helping my mentor identify potential clients and
competitors.
- Ryan
loved helping brainstorming
product development and helping with a magazine photo shoot at my
internship at a cosmetics company. I learned a lot about running a
business and I realized that I really like world of business and
working in an office.
- Sarah

My favorite part of the job was new things each day. I cannot imagine
working on the same thing day in and day out. So it was awesome to do
so many different projects and learn about so many different aspects of
business in one summer
- Carly

Before the internship began I could not have dreamed of having the
ability to establish international trade for my company. But, my
internship mentor helped me along the way and now we have the ability
to sell our products worldwide
- Rob

My
main interests were Finance and Business management. CE was able to
give me an internship where I worked in both of my interests! For part
of the week I worked with business managers and the other part of the
week I worked in the financial department
