Summer Internship Programs for High School Students

“All students should be required to do work internships. I profiled three schools that are doing a dramatically better job of teaching and assessing 21st century skills and all of these schools have requirements for work internships.”

- Tony Wagner, co-director of the Change Leadership Group (CLG) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Are you a guidance counselor, college counselor, career services adviser, internship program coordinator, or other education professional? Contact us to learn how Career Explorations can help your students stand out in the college admissions process and make the transition from classroom to college and eventually career.

Every summer hundreds of students from all over the world come to either New York, Boston, Chicago, or San Francisco to participate in one of our customized summer internship programs. Our students receive individual attention from the moment they first speak with one of our program consultants.  We counsel students to help them understand the different internship options available across industries and then match them with internship opportunities that align with their skills, interests, and goals. The internship match is an important aspect of our program, and while it is the foundation of what we do, it is also just the beginning.

Our CE Career Accelerator Curriculum features engaging professional development training created by top educators specifically for high school students. We prepare our interns to excel at their internship and provide ongoing mentorship and programming so that students maximize their experience and leave CE able to make more informed decisions about their future.

The CE Career Accelerator Curriculum includes our proprietary professional development seminars and a speaker series featuring college admissions experts, outstanding young professionals, and other noteworthy people and events. It is designed to engage our interns, broaden their understanding of the professional world, and help them think critically about the decisions they make as young adults that affect their future. Our program is all-inclusive: housing, a meal plan, local transportation, and activities are all part of the service, which means our interns benefit from a powerful social experience as well.

Students join our programs for a number or reasons. Some are exploring a career interest; others are looking for a unique summer experience. All of our students graduate Career Explorations with a sense of accomplishment, enhanced perspective on their college plans and professional interests, and concrete work experience that will help them stand out.
