Discovery Internships & Safety

At Discovery Internships, we take our responsibility for the safety of each intern seriously. We understand that you are trusting us to provide a safe environment – below we have highlighted just a few of the precautions we have in place to ensure your child has a safe & secure summer experience.

  • All of our housing facilities include 24-hour, live and monitored security
  • Everyone must have approved identification to enter our facilities
  • We maintain a 10:1 student to staff ration. Our staff live in the dorms for the summer and are available 24/7. They are trained for all emergencies – with specific procedures in place. This is in addition to the support staff that each residential dormitory also provides.
  • During orientation, we do a comprehensive review of all safety protocols with our interns and orient them to the  geography of the city and travel. We do a practice run to everyone’s internship to ensure our interns are familiar with public transportation before their first day of work!
  • We have a strict zero tolerance policy regarding alohol, tobacco, and drug use for our interns. The use of illegal substances and drug-related paraphernalia is strictly prohibited. Any intern found using or possessing any of these substances will be removed from the program immediately. Discovery Internships is a non-smoking program.
  • We abide by all state & federal regulations surrounding the use of alcohol and tobacco. Alcohol is not allowed in any of our residences under any circumstances.
